Bitcoin Not Blockchain

I just read an article on the UNCHAINED website written by Parker Lewis. It was entitled, “Bitcoin, Not Blockchain.” And it was in this article that we saw the analogy we have used for the title of this little article. Where Mr. Lewis got it, I don’t know. In my foggy, old brain, I like to think that he heard it the other day at a barbershop, somewhere between a bad haircut and an even worse joke:

"I don’t know about Bitcoin… but I really believe in blockchain."

Airplanes and the Block Chain

By now, you know, I’m no expert — I’m just a retired, old guy with too many coffee mugs and not enough patience — but as Mr. Lewis alluded, it’s like saying, “I believe in airplanes, I’m just not sold on the wings.”

Uhh… friends. Wake up. Good luck getting off the ground without ‘em.

Bitcoin and the Blockchain

See, Bitcoin and blockchain go together. Here around the Edisto River near the Bull Swamp, we like to say, “They’re like biscuits and gravy.” You might say you only want the gravy, but you won’t get very far with just a bowl of goop.

The blockchain is what keeps Bitcoin honest — it’s the record book, the traffic cop, the nosy neighbor — and Bitcoin gives the blockchain purpose. It’s the coin doing something that makes it all real.

Where To Start Investing

Now, I’ll be honest with you: This crypto world? It can feel like trying to drink from a firehose while standing on a skateboard. Thousands of coins, millions of opinions, and at least three new buzzwords before you finish reading this sentence. It’s overwhelming — even for an old guy like me who survived party line telephones, dial-up internet, and canned Vienna sausages.

But here’s the point: Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. Just start with Bitcoin. Just Bitcoin.

Ignore the noise. Forget the shiny distractions. And learn the basics of what makes Bitcoin tick. Once you understand that (I’m still working on it—my son Dex is keeping me out of trouble), all the other stuff (Ethereum, Dogecoin, Tether, and whatever someone might have launched in their basement last night) starts to make more sense.

Start Slow and Easy

So if you're starting out, relax. Chill! Don’t panic! I have been around this world for a long time, This Bitcoin thing is here for the long haul. You don’t have to understand everything. You just need a good starting place.

And guess what? You’ve found one.

That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it!
