Trying Crypto as a Total Beginner
I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t wake up one morning and say, “I think I’ll become a cryptocurrency investor today.” No, sir. What I did wake up to was a bank statement that told me my hard-earned $2,400 had earned a grand total of twenty-one cents in interest over the course of a YEAR (2024).
Twenty-one cents! I’ve found more than that between the couch cushions after Sunday dinner!
Learning Crypto the Opa Way
That was the moment something snapped. Or maybe clicked is a better word. Either way, I started asking questions — mostly to my son, Dex, who patiently tried to explain Bitcoin to his old man using words I could understand. (Think Monopoly money with ambition.) That little talk was the start of what I now call “my crypto adventure.”
No, I’m not rich. Not even close. But I am doing better than I was with my money just sitting there like a bored housecat in a bank savings account. I’ve started learning, testing, trying, and (occasionally) buying coins with funny names and even funnier price swings. And I decided to share the journey here, on Crypto With Opa, so the rest of y’all could follow along — and maybe even take a few steps with me.
Real Mistakes. Real Lessons. Real Laughs.
This blog isn’t a how-to guide. I’m not an expert, and I’m not pretending to be one. I’m just a curious, old guy with an iPad, a stubborn streak, and a desire to make my money work a little harder than it used to. And maybe I’ll be able to leave my wife something nice and the grandchildren too!
I’m learning as I go — and sometimes I even learn the hard way.
One Coin At A Time
So if you’ve ever looked at your savings account and thought, “There’s got to be something better than this,” well… welcome to the club. I’m figuring out crypto one coin, one article, one misstep at a time — and I hope you’ll laugh, learn, and maybe even take the leap with me.
Let’s get some pizzazz back in our portfolios — the Opa way.
